Lorraine Barker tells us what it's like to be a Therapist at Lifehouse Spa, Essex!
What made you want to work in the industry? What route did you take in?
I decided I wanted to work in the Spa Industry because I love working with people, customer service is very important to me. I went to my local college for 3 years to study Beauty Therapy and then progressed on to become a Spa Therapist.
What is an average day life for you?
My average day begins with me arriving an hour before my shift to ensure I am organized and prepped for my treatments and clients. I like to provide high standards within my treatments and customer service. Teamwork is key to our team at Lifehouse Spa and Hotel. I see on average 9 clients a day and offer a huge range of treatments. I love to see my clients walk away happy after every treatment.
Tell us about a good day, an unusual story/a day that wasn’t normal and why it was memorable?
A good and unusual day for me is when we recently did our Recruitment video, which I was included in. I felt proud of myself to have been picked for such a big role and happy to express my feelings during my time on camera. This has now been viewed 4,500 times. It makes me proud to be in my team and work within Lifehouse.
Tell us about your working environment, is it inspirational, picturesque, unusual?
I enjoy my working environment, as therapists we have our own Treatment rooms and office to ensure we have our own space and we find pride in our areas. We have 130 acres of land, which is beautiful and are very lucky to be able to use the Spa Facilities and have a 1hr treatment every month.
What would you be doing if you were not doing this?
If I did not decide and love the Spa industry, I would have gone into midwifery.
